Laureate Connect is calling out to all prospective designers interested in Architecture, Design and Digital Arts. NewSchool of Architecture & Design, one of Laureate’s best known universities for specializing in the arts, is launching a scholarship for Art and Design Bachelor degree programs worth up to $10,000.

If you’re a budding art student looking to study a Architecture, Design and Digital Arts program at a top US university, this could be the opportunity for you. Open to students from outside the US, the deadline is December 11, 2015, so if you want to apply, get yourself moving.

International Students Scholarship Program

NewSchool of Architecture & Design wants to motivate young international talents eager to launch their creative career in California: where design meets innovation. NewSchool offers scholarships to partially cover the tuition for international students applying for one of its Bachelor degree programs in Architecture, Design and Digital Arts.

NewSchool of Architecture & Design is globally recognized for its forward-thinking professors, industry connections and inspiring campus community. Students and faculty are consistently raising the bar, winning numerous competitions outside the classroom. The Master of Architecture program was recently ranked Top 30 in the World by Frame magazine and our Design and Digital Arts programs were developed in collaboration with two award-winning design schools: Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand and Domus Academy in Milan, Italy.


NewSchool’s International Student Scholarship Program is addressed to international students with a passion for interior or product design, architecture, media design, animation and game art, or any related field that encourages an inquisitive mind and an attitude for critical thinking and investigation. Participants must have a high school diploma OR be in their senior year and expect to graduate from high school in 2015.

Scholarship Award

Scholarships offered are up to $10,000 (US dollars) per academic year, for the entire duration of the program. Students must remain in good academic standing, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5 per quarter, and be continuously enrolled in a NewSchool program.


Design is a global concept that is often influenced by its physical and cultural environment. Applicants must submit a creative project that expresses who they are as designers and how their international perspective has shaped their design identity. Projects can be developed in any tool that the applicant is familiar with: e.g. sketches, illustrations, computer graphics, collage, photography, video, etc. The subject must be related to the field of study that the applicant is applying (e.g. an applicant seeking to enroll into the BA in Product Design should submit a project related to the design of a product or service.) Projects must be submitted in English, as it is the language of instruction at NewSchool.

Submission Guidelines

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed NewSchool online application form in the program of choice
  • A creative project based on the guidelines provided above
  • Short description in English (max 200 words) of the concept of the project highlighting reasons supporting their choices

All material must be sent via e-mail (file to be sent in pdf format) to indicating in the subject “2015 International Student Scholarship Program”. Applications will be considered in the order that they are received and must be submitted together with the completed online application form in the program of choice. Candidates will be informed about the results of the scholarship via email.
